Ryszard Szulkin

ryszard Ryszard Szulkin is professor of sociology in the research area of labor markets, organizations and personnel.

Research Interests:

My main research topic revolves around how social stratification and inequality is created in the labor market. Within this framework, I study how employers and establishments influence employees´ career opportunities and monetary rewards. During the last years, I have focused on the mechanisms at the establishment level that generate gender and ethnic differences in labor market-related outcomes. My current research is concerned with the impact of ethnic segregation on school progress and labor market careers of immigrant and Swedish youth.

Current Research Projects:

The Long Arm of the Segregated Suburb, period 2005-2008, supported by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet).

Researcher at The Stockholm University Linnaeus Center for Integration Studies (SULCIS) a multi-disciplinary research center focusing on migration and integration supported by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet).
